How P2463 Usually Shows Up

  • Reduced‑power or limp‑mode behaviour, especially under sustained load.
  • Cooling fans running more often than usual after shutdown.
  • Often accompanied by DPF pressure sensor or regeneration‑related codes.

Common TDCi‑Specific Causes

  • Driving profile with lots of short trips and incomplete regenerations.
  • DPF pressure sensor or pipe issues giving incorrect readings.
  • Underlying EGR or boost problems that are increasing soot output.
  • Use of the wrong engine oil type leading to excessive ash accumulation over time.

Suggested Test Plan

  1. Check actual vs. commanded DPF regeneration status and history with a capable scan tool.
  2. Inspect and, if necessary, replace blocked or damaged DPF pressure sensor pipes.
  3. Address any underlying EGR, boost or injector issues that are increasing soot output.
  4. Only consider forced regeneration or DPF replacement once the root cause has been stabilised.
