What P2453 Means Here

P2453 points to an issue with the DPF differential pressure sensor circuit or its readings. On Ford diesels this can be due to genuine DPF blockage, sensor failure or problems with the pressure pipes.

Common Causes

  • Blocked or melted pressure pipes to the DPF sensor.
  • Pressure sensor internal failure or drift.
  • Damaged wiring or poor connections at the sensor.
  • Genuinely high DPF backpressure from soot or ash accumulation.

Suggested Test Plan

  1. Inspect the pressure pipes visually for melting, blockage or disconnection.
  2. Check wiring and connectors at the sensor for damage or corrosion.
  3. Compare pressure readings at idle and at a light cruise with known-good values where possible.
  4. If pressure readings seem unrealistic, substitute a known-good sensor.
  5. If pressure is genuinely high, assess DPF condition and consider cleaning or replacement.
