Lexus RX

A calm RX workflow: basics and 12V stability first, then trims + misfire data, then EVAP and catalyst logic. For hybrids, treat low-voltage health as non‑negotiable.

Quick triage (5 minutes)

What to capture

  • Codes + freeze-frame (coolant temp, RPM, load)
  • 12V battery voltage and charging behaviour (especially after sitting)
  • STFT/LTFT at idle and light cruise
  • Misfire counters per cylinder (if available)
  • EVAP purge command vs trims (after refuelling complaints)
  • Upstream O2 activity when in closed loop

What it usually means

  • Multiple warning lights + odd behaviour → check 12V health/grounds before chasing modules.
  • Lean trims at idle → intake/PCV leak or purge influence; smoke-test before ignition parts.
  • P0441/P0456 with long crank after refuel → purge/vent behaviour and sealing issues.
  • P0420 → only judge after mixture control and misfires are stable.

What NOT to do (high-confidence traps)

Data that settles the argument

If you only run one test, log trims at idle and cruise, then add misfire counters and EVAP purge command. You’ll quickly see if you’re chasing air/EVAP influence, ignition, or a basic voltage/ground problem creating noise in multiple systems.

Trust note: These profiles are designed to narrow possibilities. Confirm with test data (trims, misfire counters, smoke tests, voltage checks) before buying parts.
