P0234 (Turbo Overboost) – Vauxhall CDTi checks
Overboost is a control problem. Compare requested vs actual and then test the actuator path.
Common causes
- Sticking VNT vanes (soot/carbon or actuator travel limits).
- Vacuum supply issues or leaking lines causing unstable control.
- MAP sensor bias leading to false overboost reporting.
What proves it
Log requested vs actual boost under a repeatable pull. If actual consistently overshoots, test vacuum/actuator movement and control solenoid function.
Why it can pair with EGR/DPF faults
Airflow control, EGR flow and DPF regen are linked. Fixing only the turbo code can leave the underlying airflow issue in place.
Make it Vauxhall-specific
Start at the manufacturer hub to match the code to the engine family (EcoTEC petrol vs CDTi diesel) and the common platform patterns.
