P0234 (Turbo Overboost) – Vauxhall CDTi checks

Overboost is a control problem. Compare requested vs actual and then test the actuator path.

Common causes

Sticking VNT vanes (soot/carbon or actuator travel limits).
Vacuum supply issues or leaking lines causing unstable control.
MAP sensor bias leading to false overboost reporting.

What proves it

Log requested vs actual boost under a repeatable pull. If actual consistently overshoots, test vacuum/actuator movement and control solenoid function.

Why it can pair with EGR/DPF faults

Airflow control, EGR flow and DPF regen are linked. Fixing only the turbo code can leave the underlying airflow issue in place.
