Vauxhall electrical quirks (CIM / body systems)

These cars can present "impossible" symptoms when a voltage supply, ground, or body module is unhappy. The goal is to prove the basics fast.

Common symptom clusters

  • Intermittent no‑start with no clear engine fault codes.
  • Random warning lights, multiple unrelated DTCs across modules.
  • Wipers / indicators / steering wheel controls behaving inconsistently.
  • Loss of comms with one module (U‑codes), then it comes back.

Non‑negotiable checks (before parts)

  1. Battery health under load (cranking voltage matters more than static).
  2. Main grounds (engine/chassis/body) – clean and tighten, check drop.
  3. Ignition / key / column area: movement‑related intermittents are a clue.
  4. Moisture & connectors: footwell/BCM areas and bulkhead joints.
  5. Scan all modules: don’t chase an engine DTC if a body supply issue is upstream.

Trust note: These profiles are designed to narrow possibilities. Confirm with test data (trims, misfire counters, pressure/smoke tests, voltage checks) before buying parts.
